Venom and Other Poison Sources

When Venom is active the poison duration of all your other poison sources gets fixed to what can be done in 0.4 seconds. So due to this poison sources with long durations do not help much (300 over 6 seconds = 20 over 0.4 seconds). Now each poison source is not looked at individually, the damage each can offer in 0.4 seconds seems to be pooled together first but I'm not sure yet if they pool just those that have the same duration or all of them before rounding down. Now due to this your total poison damage may seem to go down but as your duration is now fixed and very short you'll still do more poison damage with Venom on than with out it.

So if let's say you had a 300 poison damage over 6 seconds charm and Venom could do for example 160-200 poison damage over 0.4 seconds. With Venom off when you attack something it will take 300 points of poison damage and takes 6 seconds to run it's full course. When Venom is active that charm can only add 20 points of poison damage over 0.4 seconds so your total poison damage will be 180-220 over 0.4 seconds. Keep this in mind when getting items that add to your poison damage.

When attacking with poison if the prior poison attack had not completed its duration when a new one hits the first one will be canceled when you hit with the second attack. So multiple poison damage attacks do not stack together.

It should be noted that Venom can be applied to any attack when active, including kicks (character info does not seem to display this for Dragon Talon and Dragon Flight but it does seem to take effected when using them) and ranged attacks. Then the blade skills do not alter the duration of your poison, only the damage that will be done in that time based on the weapon damage percentage noted for each skill.
