Fire Sorc
Easy, fast, deadly, and cheap. Flip's got his lightning sorc, I'm all about the fire sorc.
Stats:
Str: Enough for Gear (I recommend 110~)
Dex: None or enough for block (I recommend none)
Vit: Rest
Nrg: ~100, enough for decent mana regen
Skills:
20 Fire Bolt
20 Fire Ball
20 Meteor
20 Fire Mastery
1 Static Field
1 Telekinesis
1 Teleport
1 Warmth
Rest = Inferno
Why the inferno? DOT on the meteor. That's the real damage dealer for MFing Meph or Baal.
Equipment:
Head: Harlequin Crest, choice of socket (Fire facet or PTopaz work just fine, um rune if you need res)
Armor: CoH, Que-Hegans, or Tal's. CoH is best for damage, Tal's for MF, Que-Hegans if you're cheap. Vipermagi works, too.
Weap: Oculus or Eschuta's (20% fire)
Shield: Stormshield, Tiamat's PDia, Lidless, or Sanctuary.
Gloves: Magefist or Chanceguards.
Ammy: Maras, Tal's, Rising Sun, or rare +2 FCR
Rings: SOJs or BulKathos
Boots: War Travs (MF), resist rares
Charms: Shoot for at least 2 Fire Skill charms. They're not necessary, but are very nice.
With damage equiment on, it's very easy to get a 15k fireball and a 30k damage meteor. With MF, shoot for 10k/20k. If you're looking to PVP, take spare points from Inferno and put them into Hydra.
Merc: Act 2 Holy Freeze or choice
Recommended Equipment:
Eth Reaper's Toll w/ choice socket
Eth Glad Bane, Eth Stone, or Tal's
Gaze, Tal's Mask, or Andariel's Face
Notes:
My fire sorc is based heavy on MF, but I can still manage to solo Baal w/ merc. The key is to train the Minions out of the throne room. Everything else is slaughtered by merc or Fireball/Meteor.
At a certain point, it becomes more economical to use Fire Bolt than Fireball because it surpasses Fireball in damage and remains at 2.5 mana. I wouldn't recommend switching off, though, due to the radius of Fireball.
Shoot for 1.2k life or more. Since you're not going to be taking Energy Shield, life is necessary. If you're not blocking, you'll need it even more.
Fire Facets are the ultimate damage booster against most monsters. Focus on getting the -enemy resist at 5% and ignore the +% fire damage.
Let's all play the way Blizzard intended: Without cheats, twinking, turbo, and leeching.
Maybe you'd all stop complaining.
